There are different breeds of alpacas?The most discussed types of Alpacas are Suri (pronounced Sooree) and Huacaya (pronounced Wahkya). Huacaya are the most common, representing approximately 90% of the total Alpacas and Suri make up the rest. There is a third type of Alpaca, the Vicuna which is very rare.

What is the difference?Suri are renowned for their very fine, high quality fibre that is long and wavy. Huacaya have a more sheeplike look and their fibre, while still of higher quality than sheep wool, is accepted as being not as fine as Suri.

What is a “certified biosecure” farm?A biosecure farm certification follows a quite rigorous audit of the property by an authorized veterinarian. The property owners must be able to prove they have effective management procedures in place for weed control, pests, pesticide, visitor and vehicles, among other things. The object is to protect the environment and maintain a healthy and regenerative land structure.

Do you ship internationally?Yes, we do, usually by Express Mail. Customers can advise us of any preferred method they may have and we will do our best to accommodate.
